The future of agility is to be more human

The future of agility is to be more human.  What do I mean “more human”?  One aspect of being human I have emphasized is balance.  For example, as humans, we need food, we also need to take care of our minds.  How does the concept of balance apply to business?  In this pandemic, many activities are migrated from offline to online.  If this trend stays for next few years, then there is a higher probability of merging physical spaces with the virtual world.  With virtualisation of more and more things, activities and ideas, then some of beliefs and assumptions developed in the physical world may be challenged.  For example, the best way to communicate is face-to-face conversation.  What if we can converse through our minds? Using the same concept, virtualisation will also affect businesses.  Besides blurring of  physical space and the online world,  our mental models of businesses may be challenged.  Below are some examples

  1. Home delivery of SIA first and business class meals offers a taste of the luxe life
  2. The perfect virtual video store isn’t Netflix. It’s DVD.com.

To thrive in the transition to merging of physical space and the online world, we need to embrace polarity thinking.  And polarity thinking is one of our gifts as humans.
