What is a way to grow and to sustain a community that is systematic and strategic?

This idea is inspired by professionals at People and Organisation Development Exchange (PODEX). One of the group values is an abundance mentality. Since I resonate with their values, naturally I will give higher priority to activities related to this group. That is one of the impacts of having values in a growing community. What about sustaining a community? To sustain the momentum, receiving values while supporting is one of the ways.
1) Sharing ideas and experiences, e.g. webinars
2) Sharing contacts and deals, e.g. referrals
3) Group publicity and marketing, e.g. alumni directory, podcasts
